Match report for u11 girls west Birr Town vs St Francis in Garrycastle. - Oct 30th
This was a very busy weekend of football for the girls. The game started with Birr Town girls dominating. We created some good chances but the St Francis goalkeeper pulled off some good saves. We made a couple of changes and were rewarded with a breakthrough by Grace who scored her first of the day. She added to this shortly after to leave it 2-0 at half time.
Second half started with Birr looking comfortable but with a break in play St Francis got one back. A few mins later Birr scored again with a good goal from Sophia. St Francis replied with another goal and the score stood at 4-2. We were feeling confident and let our concentration slip. In this period St Francis scored two quick goals, the second with the last kick of the game and levelled the match at 4-4.
Woman of the match was Grace O’ Meara who had another fine game today. Captain today was Ella Johnson.
Congratulations to St Francis who are in their first year of girls football. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.
